Marriage Licenses
To obtain a marriage license in the state of Virginia. The couple must go to any County Clerk's Office in the state of Virginia and present identification and pay a fee. More information about marriage requirements, contact your local clerk's office.
Receiving Your Marriage License
After your ceremony concludes I will send off your Marriage License. It usually takes two to three weeks before your marriage is registered with the Commonwealth of Virginia. You can obtain a certified copy of your marriage certificate for a small fee by going to the Clerk’s Office in the County where you obtained the marriage license and showing appropriate identification. Some clerk's offices offer expedited processing for marriage licenses.
Meaningful Ceremonies
Some couples may feel hesitant about what to include in their wedding ceremony. Should the ceremony look and sound like your parents' wedding? Should the wedding be completely new and contemporary? There are many answers to these questions. More than anything else, you and your spouse are getting married. It is your choice. Some couples choose to write their own wedding vows. There are a number of websites with writing tips. Personally, just giving it some thought and clearly stating your intentions is best. Many people feel unsure that they are doing it correctly, but it will be perfect if you take the time to think about them ahead of time and speak from the heart.
