Since 2003 I have had the pleasure of officiating wedding ceremonies. I am authorized by the Commonwealth of Virginia to perform weddings throughout the state.
For me, it all started when a friend of mine asked me if I would perform his wedding ceremony. He and his fiancée were not attached to a particular church. I was able to get authorized to perform weddings with help from my family and community. I worked very closely with the couple to create a wedding ceremony that reflected their vision. Everything went very smoothly and I felt really good about the part I played. Afterwards, I figured that would be the last wedding that I would officiate. Then, a year later one of my wife’s college friends asked if I would perform her wedding. From there I began performing weddings more frequently at locations throughout Central Virginia.
Since that time, I have had the pleasure of performing ceremonies for couples with many different faiths, beliefs and cultural backgrounds. More recently, in accordance with changes to Marriage Statutes I have performed same sex ceremonies. I have performed ceremonies that included “jumping the broom,” “tying the knot,” “breaking the glass” and storytelling elements to name a few.
I feel honored to work with couples to create a wedding ceremony that reflects their individual wants and needs. These have included elopement ceremonies as small as three, intimate ceremonies with family and friends and elaborate ceremonies with hundreds of people in attendance. Although I am not a minister associated with a specific church, I am an authorized officiant in Virginia. I am open minded and accepting of different beliefs and traditions. I am comfortable including a wide variety of religious traditions and spiritual beliefs. I am happy to incorporate religious and spiritual elements into ceremonies or perform weddings that are strictly civil.
If you are getting married for the second or third time that is not a problem. Families come in all shapes and sizes. I am happy to incorporate your children into the ceremony in whatever way makes them comfortable. My goal is to make you feel at ease and enjoy the experience.
